Autism Support Advisor

37.5 hrs with some evenings and weekends required

Fixed term contract for 1 year initially. This is expected to be extended.

Assert is a local charity that supports adults on the Autistic Spectrum in Brighton and Hove. We have an exciting opportunity for someone with the right skills, empathy and experience to help us provide an essential service in the city.

The role requires the provision of high quality, short term case work to increase wellbeing, personal empowerment, support independent living and improve quality of life for our service users. The role also requires the ability to support with facilitating groups and supporting to deliver our Autism Awareness Training.

The Autism Support Advisor is the initial point of contact for new people accessing Assert and acts as the gateway for people to engage in the wider services at Assert. The short term, ad hoc 1-1 case work is the foundation of this role and requires the ability to provide information, advice and guidance on a wide range of topics as identified by individual need. 

You will need to be highly skilled in providing case work on a range of topics and have excellent listening skills. Knowledge and experience of supporting Autistic adults is essential. The post requires excellent communication, administrative and IT skills and a commitment to challenging stereotypes and promoting our work.
