Assert is a member led organisation that facilitates personal empowerment for autistic adults in Brighton and Hove. We have an exciting opportunity for someone with the right skills, empathy and experience to take our work forward and take on the role of Volunteer and Activities Coordinator. The successful candidate will be highly motivated and have experience in supporting individuals and groups, supporting and training volunteers and in organising events and activities. Strong administrative and IT skills and promoting our work are essential to the role.
Volunteer/ Activities Coordinator role: To Maintain and further develop Assert’s Volunteer and mentor programme. To promote volunteering opportunities with Assert to the wider community to ensure that Assert has a skilled bank of volunteers and volunteer mentors to support the organisation and its activities. To support service users to access appropriate and supportive volunteering placements within the local wider nonprofit community that match with individuals interests, passions and skills. To organise events and monthly activities for service users and ensure that these are diverse and member led. To undertake risk assessments for activities and deliver volunteer training and provide regular supervision for volunteers. In addition this role requires some general case worker support skills and the ability to work reactively.
